A small but ferocious mouse warrior in the shadow of a curb, surrounded by weeds. Lots...and lots...of weeds--based on a slew of photos I took in my alley last week. (You want the neighbors to look at you funny, hang out behind a dumpster photographing weeds. Hours of fun and confusion for all.) Five days later, my tablet hand is a cramped claw, but it was worth it.
Painter, Photoshop, and I must mention that this was inspired in part by the lovely stuff of Amara Telgemeier--if you've never seen it, go check it out. I'd done complex lighting, and complicated scenes, and realism with heavy outlines, but for some reason, I never put all three together until I saw her magnificent work and went "Damn! That's a great idea!"
wow, this looks really good. I like the look a lot. So neat. Very much in line with the style I myself always aim for. I'll check out Amara to see what you're referring to.
I know you did this ages and ages ago, but I have to comment. WOW! I was flipping through your art on RedWombat, and this one actually looks like a photograph in the thumbnail. I thought maybe you were playing with Photoshop and added one of your little critters to a photo until I clicked. Love it!
Wow. You are amazing. Yeah, yeah, I can hear you saying "But... I just took the stuff... with the...and the technique..." and "Well, I'm not quite satisfied with this area here" and blahblahblah and all of the stuff that artists always say, but you'll never know exactly what this looks like to someone who knows that they could NEVER DO THIS. Best of luck to you! May the Jackson Pollocks of the art world hide their collective head in shame! ;}
