Artist's Comments

The first bird golem was a weird and winsome beast, made of bird bones and brass fittings and semi-organic golem stuff that slipped over the bones and curled like kelp from the spine. It went clicking and clattering through the stone hallways, head swinging from side to side, looking for something, but no one was entirely sure what.

...yeah, I have NO idea. The image came to me from somewhere--I'd been looking at a lot of taxidermy and Jessica Josclin's weird sculptures and whatnot--and it just...kinda...happened.

The original is 9 x 18 on illustration board, and notable for having been colored in a succession of bars, in a succession of states of inebriation. Original is for sale, prints are available for $10 and $20, send a note or visit [link]

Wow, this is wonderful! I'd never have thought of an animal as a golem, but I suppose it could happen. Nice work, as usual. Very smooth coloring and an interesting pose.
