Cardinals on bare branches are definitely in the running for the most cliche of all wildlife art images. So, still inspired by the art of James Christensen and wanting to play around with distorted anatomy, I decided to do my version with Catholic cardinals, 'cos even though I'm not a Christian, I know snappy dressers when I see 'em.
This is a huge acrylic, 24 x 36, so I'll upload a detail since you can barely see the little guys here...
Reminds me of this picture my friend was telling me about: just a cardinal (bird) on a branch, with a caption underneath that says "Someday, I'll be the Pope."
Super awesome idea and it looks unlike anything I've ever seen.

I'm only going to comment on one piece so as not to flood you. I've long loved your work because it all feels so very familiar to me. I know that sounds odd, but your paintings are (to me) kind of like meeting an old friend, or maybe just finding something very familiar and well-loved in yourself. Which is a load of sap, I know, but it's one of those funky unshakeable feelings you (well, I) get, and so I continue to watch you with interest. I went through and selected a few pieces at random to fave, a few at not-so-random, and a few based on the advice of this person who is hanging around my shoulders while I try to do something productive for once. (This is not it.)

If you do not wish it to be included please let me know and I will remove it.
Thank you!
