This was a fun commission--they wanted my take on Cerberus, surrounded by broken musical instruments, on the premise that sooner or later, he'd figure out that people showing up with instruments meant that he'd wake up a few hours later with Hades smacking 'im with a rolled-up newspaper. I enjoyed it.
haha nice concept .. he looked as tho' hes just been smacked on the head(s) too .. and those skulls gives a very nice idea of the size of cerberus .. i didnt know they are that huge hehe
Sheer awesomeness. The astounding realism of detail blends perfectly with the picture's fantastic quality, and it's a truely great example of how good fantasy art can be. Great composition, hilarious premous, and wonderful execution--you've got it all, ursula. Including my I'm loving how murkily fluid you've made the river Styx (domo arigato, mister...aww, screw it ) and really digging the violin bow through the eye socket What a way to go, neh?
The detail is simply outstanding. I love the way you drew the gates back there in the background, and the water looks extremely nice.. Cerberus is such a cutie You've definitely got my fave!
Two things amuse me very much about the picture:
1) The flute through the skull ("Take THAT, foul musician!!")
and
2) ... When I added this to my favorites, one of the "recommended deviations" was that of a rearing unicorn. AHAHHAHAA. Ho ho ho. Well, I thought it was amusing.
Bottom left head looks like he's going to gnaw on the top head's bottom lip/ear to assert dominance or something. That or, "Hey, look, YOU got the last one, let me eat this one! I mean, for crap's sake, he has a HARP!"

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
