I'm not sure of much in life, and it seems occasionally like I get less sure all the time. However, I still cling to at least one deeply held conviction--namely that if crows could use matches, we'd all be in a world of hurt.

Watercolor/acrylic ink, 4 x 10, another narrow little piece, as I continue to fool around with those mats and ways to stylize birds so that they're...um...cuter. (Not that some of 'em aren't darling already, but y'know. I think I'm a little scared of birds. I live in fear that they will either beak me savagely and cause me untold agonies, or that their fragile avian skeletons will dissolve like wet toilet paper if I breathe on them wrong. So I keep trying to find a way to draw them so that I can relate to them better, which in typical Ursula fashion means making them look pudgy and a little smug.) Anyway! Crows are my second favorite bird (next to ravens.) I bet they secretly CAN use fireworks and put them in evil places for humans to find....

I'm glad that for some reason, crows never tried to ignite my front lawn with their fireworks. I think it would scare the life out of my collie, too.

crows amound many corvids are quiet intelligent and are known for their tool handling abiltites, usually using a stick one kind or another to access something they couldnt under normal circumstances. so how long will it be before a crow lets a bottle rocket off in your backyard?
