I would love to do a series of elemental mice. Heck, I'd love to do a series that included the oft neglected elements from the Chinese system and include wood and metal in the series. But I know myself, and thus will not commit to doing such, because my attention span is short and my schedule is long, and...y'know. More might occur, but I promise nothing.
Plus, as a beady-eyed little rationalist who despises pseduoscience in all its incarnations, there is some part of my soul that rises up and mutters "You know that fire and water and earth aren't REAL elements..." and I am then struck with a mad desire to do elemental whatsits that include, oh, Manganese and Hydrogen and Einsteinium and Molybdenum or something. Obviously there's way too much on the periodic table to do them all, and all those short-lived superheavies would tax my creativity after awhile, and I can think of better ways to spend an evening than tearing my hair out trying to find something exciting to painting involving cute fuzzy animals and Samarium. But the desire is still there. Anyway! 8 x 10, mixed media on illustration board, original is for sale, prints available. E-mail or drop a note or visit [link] for details! Much of the background on this one was done using the new Daniel Smith hematite watercolors, which I was sent as a christmas present, and which are kinda neat, although I'll have to play with 'em more before I can speak authoritatively about their uses. |

This one looks a little....deranged, but I guess that's to be expected.
Chinese Fire-mousey!
If you got bored, you could do the traditional elements, but with a different animal you feel captures the spirit of each....a turtle for wind, for example. A parrotfish for ice. A small hamster for water.
