The donkey's name was Quick.

His front hooves were neat and dexterous and opposable, and his back hooves were the size of dinner plates and had unassuming steel shoes. He had a pale grey hide and pale pink nostrils, and ears like enormous fringed fans, and if you lifted up his cowl far enough, you would find large, slightly worried brown eyes, with the devastatingly long eyelashes reserved for beauty queens and large ungulates. He was a small, neat-footed donkey who kept his elbows tucked in and could vanish into a crowd much more easily than a bipedal donkey wearing a yellow robe with checkerboard edging had any right to do.

I haven't the foggiest idea what this painting is about, if anything. Having donkey ears is a symbol of foolishness in classical mythology--King Midas supposedly got a set after that bit with the golden touch. Personally, I think having donkey ears would be kinda neat--I mean, sure, people'd stare and all, but they'd be so expressive! You could flick 'em and flatten 'em and twitch 'em and let 'em lop over. Human ears may be utilitarian, but they're not good at showing people how you feel. And you could wear like fifty earrings at one time.

On the down side, they probably get cold in winter. You'd need specially made hats with ear cozies.

I have no idea what that has to do with anything. The painting was mostly just a textural experiment with the scribblies again. I'm still ironing the kinks out in the technique, but I'm hopefully it'll go somewhere cool by the end.

i really, really like the donkey eared dude's nose. That has got to be the spiffiest nose in the entire history of spiffy noses. Sunglasses must be somewhat problematic, however. i bet that's the reason for the hood.

Dear Artist,

I would like to apologize to you for not being able to keep up with the art that has been piling up inside my messages. While i cannot make a well thought out comment about your work, i would like you to know that i have viewed it, and will continue to look at everything you submit to DA that arrives in my message box, for i would feel too guilty to delete any of the images without atleast looking at them first. Being without a subscription this is harder, so i will go through the art one by one in my box, and post this message.

Please forgive me for not being able to be more personal in my thoughts. I look forward to more of your art every day and again apologize for falling behind on my DA list. When i can finally knock out the 2,000 deviations in my box, i will return to regular, personal messages about the artwork im looking at.
