Gearworld: Offering by ursulav Gearworld: Offering by ursulav
This image came to me on the Toronto subway, and then I came home, got the flu, and once my defenses were down, it attacked and began screaming "PAINT ME NOW!"

So I did, because Gearworld...well, y'know.

When the painting was done, and I was sprawled on the couch feeling like death warmed over, a buddy called, listened to my coughed-out tale of woe, and said "You do know that Gearworld's gonna kill you one of these days."

Yeah. But I think I'm kinda okay with that.

12 x 36, mixed media on gessoboard, original is for sale (though not cheap!) and prints are available for $10 and $20 plus shipping. Send a note or visit [link] for details!

Very awesome. And i love how you can create such realistic texture to the walls and backgrounds. This one especially. It just feels like i could touch it and feel the rough, almost rusty-smooth rock...

If only I had the money to buy... I like this one. Very simple and elegant. Raw and so full of... something. I am trying to sound intelligent and give a good critique of the piece and can't seem to do it. What it comes down to is this: I like it enough to let you know. Good job.

All of the Gearworld series have this feeling to them, but I particularly like this one, somehow. It's a simple image on a wall, but the fusion of organic with mechanical, both in states of disrepair, works quite well. Then of course there's the totemist touch.

All this is quite late, I know, but still; next time you're under the weather, one hopes Gearworld will let you get better first, and only then assault your right brain.

Yay! More Gearworld! I'm sorry it tried to kill you to get painted. I have stories and characters that do that. Art can be so selfish sometimes. ;)

Lovely work, as always.

And a worthy bunch of offerings it is. I'm not sure what the intention was (is that even a valid way of wording it in reference to a Gearworld painting?) but I get the impression that the things were all hung there at different times by different people. I like the fish.

Excellent. The texture of the metal especially. It really gives me that old, rusty, in much need of a good scrubbing, feel. Great work.

I like the sardine :}

And actually, this is totally something I would have on my wall. As in, skull with stuff hanging off it.
Wait a minute...I do have a deer skull with stuff hanging on it (though no fish).
Never mind.

I wasn't planning on commenting but, with a quick bit a math, I realized that only 1% of the people who have viewed this have commented. Well bullocks on that and have some love.
This piece is amazing, as always. The texture on the background is _very_ well done, and the skull just looks awesome. Love the charms, they add a nice touch.
I'm glad you're feeling better (mostly) and, while its a bit sad that Gearworld is trying its best to kill you, I'm glad you don't mind too much

nnnngh I wish you would write a book centered in gearwooorld. Then it'd have all your delicious illustrations in it.

I really think your gearworld series is spectacular.

Have you read the "Book of the Gear" blog? She hasn't updated it for a couple of years, but there's enough gearworldy exploration there to keep you occupied for a while.

The best part of this picture is the fish, IMO.

And I've been there: sick, but the picture forces you to paint it anyway. Art's kinda insane, isn't it?

Nonetheless, it's beautiful and wonderful. It may have something to do with my death-fascinating ways, still, it's just awesome.
