Artist's Comments

This image came to me on the Toronto subway, and then I came home, got the flu, and once my defenses were down, it attacked and began screaming "PAINT ME NOW!"

So I did, because Gearworld...well, y'know.

When the painting was done, and I was sprawled on the couch feeling like death warmed over, a buddy called, listened to my coughed-out tale of woe, and said "You do know that Gearworld's gonna kill you one of these days."

Yeah. But I think I'm kinda okay with that.

12 x 36, mixed media on gessoboard, original is for sale (though not cheap!) and prints are available for $10 and $20 plus shipping. Send a note or visit [link] for details!

I love your Gearworld stuff. The imagery always seems so mysterious and makes me want to know more about that strange world of gears. =)

Always take the back roads.
Don't speed.
And don't touch the chipmunks."

How the hell do you paint backgrounds like that? It's so realistic and yet it's so characteristically Ursula Vernon. Damn do I love your work.

I wish my art was likely to kill me one of these days... :(
I'm just not that driven. Driven, but not that driven.

I...I have to know more about gear world...

You do these pictures once in a while about them, and they're this odd glimpse into this world that seem intreguing and disturbing but entirely addicting.

The need to know more about this world seems like an all consuming task.

Look out look out, the tree's have eyes, the trolls will follow, the elves will cry. The night is silent, the world is still, the forest is waiting, for the dragons kill.

Hearts and feathers and fishie and stones. There's something... interesting and fleeting in there.
:iconfrazeocity:
Wow, I love the span of it. I could just imagine a skull like that on a wall in someone's house. And then I'd be compelled to add little stones and feathers.
