Great Horned Owl Maskby `ursulav

Forgive the less than exciting photography--still need to pick up the gear to do attractive photo-shoots! This is a leather Great Horned Owl Mask, made of vegetable tanned leather, carved and cut and shaped and all that good stuff. It's a big mask and flared out from the face to get the nice round owl-head look.

I have no idea what I'm doing--this is only the fifth mask I've made!--but they're fun to do and totally different than most of the art I make.

I'm really loving the masks.

As far as photos go, I shoot all my stuff outside in the early morning, right before the sun actually hits the area I'm shooting in. Around 7 to 8 am. I use the no flash or sports auto settings on my camera, and my fancy backdrop is a weathered (and huge) wooden spool I got for free from a construction site, used as a garden table. No reflectors, no lightboxes, no fancy set up.
Just a thought.
