This could be any portrait of any random grizzly bear on any random misty morning. But the faint outline of a gear that snuck into the background there leads me to believe that it's probably Heinrich, unsung hero of the Gearworld blog I noodle around with now and again, [link] a laconic ursine aide-de-camp who's emotional state can be determined by the elaborateness of his cooking.

This painting kicked my ass the first time around, and I had to abandon it and start over. Like many artists, I get these occasional twitches to prove I CAN do realism, goddamnit, and stuff like this results. I suspect that within my breast beats the heart of a frustrated wildlife artist. I really WANT to paint wildlife. I love wildlife! I just usually want to paint wildlife that due to some gross oversight by nature, only seems to occur inside my head.

But I feel much better now. Really.

The colors are amazing. The bear's eyes (especially the reflection of the light) are done very well. The fur is mezmerizing. I didn't even notice the gear until you mentioned it. :lol:

DDDDDAAAAAMMMMNNNN!!!! Wow! This is amazing, I'm with chaded, very jealous of your talent, but great work! The emotion in his eyes is intense, and you took no shortcuts with the detailed background, and the gear is great ;) I love how you get into the story of each peace, it shows alot about you, and your passion for art, keep it coming!
