Several million years ago, give or take a few, a unique geologic event involving huge herds of wild pigs and a mineral spring prone to random and violent eruptions of fiery steam came together, much to the detriment of the pigs. Preserved and delicately spiced with mineral salts, ground fine under the weight of eons, the end result is a unique and deliciously aged sausage, mined at the Carlisle Sausage Mines located in the Cacomistly Mountains.
At the Carlisle Mines, wiry miner cats excavate the valuable sausage ore, or "fat gold," with picks and squeegees. They load it into carts, taking it up several levels to the meat refinery for rapid on-site processing. From there, the famous Carlisle Fossil Sausage is shipped to the nearby town, and goes out to hungry consumers the world over, bearing the motto "Carlisle Fossil Sausage--A Taste of the Ages." The miner cats unionized some decades past, following an outbreak of the peculiar medical malady known as "sausage lung," and following a strike and the subsequent drop in Carlisle Corp's profits (immediately taken up by the Baconsmiths of Snod) the mine was overhauled and modernized, making it today one of the safest mines in the world. --------------------- (Oh, like YOU never wake up in the night, sit up in bed, and cry "Back to the sausage mines with you!"...) Pencil on bristol, 11 x 14. Original is for sale. Prints, with the text about the sausage mines included, are $10 plus shipping. Visit [link] or send a note for ordering info. |
