Smug Bird by ursulav Smug Bird by ursulav
I spent some recent time in New Orleans in a gallery that had a lot of work by the surrealist artist Daniel Merriam. I stared at it for a long time and thought "I wanna do...complicated...monochromatic...swirly...thingies..."

12 x 12 mixed media on board. They don't make enough shades of sea-green colored pencils, let me tell you.

For some reason this makes me think of Dr. Seuss crossed with H. R. Giger.

Thankfully you're a good enough artist that you can get around little setbacks like not enough shades of green. :)

I totally know how you feel. So many subtle variations of just one color. Fantastic work! :D

The smuggest of them all.

And sitting rather calmly on top of what I can only suppose is some kind of green glass self-replicant nano-lifeform. The last survivor in a world of green glass effigies.

...yup, my mind just went wild all of a sudden again. @_@

"The inhabitants of Tentacilia call their cute little pest controls "Croakaburras" for their peculiar mating calls. The scientific community prefers the term "Intrepid green burgleswallow" or Noctinterruptus Buboformis. The Croakaburras themselves seem to have no opinion whatsoever."
