In my recent trip to LA, I had the privilege of seeing California Quail. Something about their ridiculous little topknots made them look fussy and a trifle haughty. A quail with pearls and eyeglasses just kinda followed. I had sepia ink and some brown colored pencils with me, and the rest, as they say, is history...
What may make this even weirder is that judging by the markings, that would have to be a male quail... It's about 8 x 10ish on 9 x 12 Arches hotpress watercolor paper.
