Stop Sucking by ursulav Stop Sucking by ursulav
I believe most artists have felt this way at some point. The sad thing is, throwing more art supplies at it works JUST OFTEN ENOUGH to keep hope alive. ("I haven't tried egg tempera yet! Or dried macaroni!")

6 x 9, and in the interests of living up to the theme, this includes digital, cut paper, acrylic, ink, colored pencil, pen, metallic pigment, mica, stamping, stenciling, and acrylic matte medium.

Original is for sale, prints available at Red Wombat Studio: [link]

How well I know that feeling. I really like the background colors on your mixed media pieces- there's always such variation, and yet it still looks harmonious.

I think that it's related to the "wall of sound" meme used in rock music. Maybe to script-writing too. Instead of simple and polished, add more elements/characters.

I would like to own the fact that I read "egg tempera" as "egg tempura", which left me a trifle confuzzed for a while.

However, macaroni and all forms of dried pasta and other noodle items always are a good decision. At least, that is what I learned in the third grade.

Even though I have such little experience with art, I'm sure it only works if the problem you're throwing art supplies at... is your lack of skill.

Far as I know, practice is the one big thing that improves an artist's skill. The other one I know of is patience. After all, we can't all be Leonardo da Vinci...

Once, I gave up and painted an entire four-week effort black and started over. That worked, but it was almost physically painful to do.

Actually, that works with watercolor and gouache. I don't know why they inflict "student grade" on anyone--it's gritty, irregular crap, it handles horribly, and it's no wonder people can't get it to work right.

Same with pastel, I'm told...but, y'know, doesn't fix the bit where you need to learn to drawn and all.
