Verdigris Rabbit

5 x 7, mixed media. This one started with a patterned paper, which still shows through in the shadowed areas of the rabbit. The rest is layered paint and gels--mostly Golden Regular Semi-Gloss and Liquitex Ultra Matte Gel, which is interesting stuff but dries much more opaque. (It'd be good for a BOTTOM layer, say, but it killed some of the depth when I foolishly slathered it on the TOP layer.)

It's kinda funny--this was supposed to be a companion piece to the Wolf-Ate-Them rabbit--I drew them at the same time, the colors were similar, white rabbit, white text, etc but the difference between the shiny and the matte finish, and the thing with the layers really changed the whole appearance for me. So now I guess they're related, but not as closely as I thought when I was drawing them.
