Plesiosaurs in Party Hats

Doodling the Loch Ness Dodo of course made me think of plesiosaurs, and the sketches would seem to resemble a distant, gargantuan ancestor of the Small Pink Lizard (or at least a descendant from a common ancestor, perhaps via some kind of Small Pink Transitional Form.) Large, happy, not-terribly-bright looking animals practically require party hats.

Maybe they're holding a welcome party for the asteroid. (No! No! Too sad to contemplate! They're not holding a party for the asteroid! It was Bob the Icthyosaur's birthday. Millions of years before the asteroid. Yeah. That's it. Happy birthday, Bob!)
